"Hope for Cebu Relief Mission:" Helping Families Rebuild After Typhoons

When a devastating typhoon hit communities in Cebu, Philippines, many families were left without homes and essential resources. Brilliant Beginnings partnered with fellow Filipino organizations to provide essential supplies and support to the affected families during these difficult times.

On November 2, 2025, Typhoon Kalmaegi, known as Typhoon Tino to locals, intensely hit parts of the Philippines, affecting millions of Filipinos. Heavy torrential rains, destructive winds, and rampant flooding caused many families to lose their homes and greatly disrupted their lives.

Provinces in Cebu, Philippines were among the hardest-hit communities, and with inadequate government assistance, many families remained displaced without sufficient resources to survive. Recognizing the need for relief and resources, Brilliant Beginnings partnered with local relief organizations to support families in need. We donated funds to support the distribution of essential supplies to affected families and communities.

We partnered with the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Pasadena (FACCGP), located in Pasadena, California, and Cebu Heritage Lions Club, located in Cebu, and worked alongside Terry Villanueva, President of FACCGP, to support in making “Hope for Cebu Relief Mission” happen. We contributed $300 from our donation funds to support this relief effort that raised a total of $550 to distribute essential goods to affected families and children.

With the raised funds, we were able to reach and distribute relief goods to approximately 100 families in Babayeng Mantuyong, a small community in Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines, that was one of the areas greatly affected by the typhoon.

The distribution event took place on March 14, 2026 in a Women’s Association Livelihood Center in the community. Volunteers from the Cebu Heritage Lions Club gave out grocery products such as rice, noodles, sardines, as well as packed, cooked food to the families.

We are extremely grateful that we were able to contribute to relief efforts and to hopefully spread awareness on the increasing natural disasters in the Philippines. As Villanueva said, “Being able to extend help during difficult times reminds us that success is not only measured by growth, but also by the positive impact we make on others.”

We aim to continue giving back, fulfilling our mission of supporting impoverished communities in the Philippines, whether it be through relief efforts or education reforms, and making lasting impact on families and children in need.

If you want to support under-resourced communities in the Philippines, consider donating to Brilliant Beginnings, to help us continue bringing supplies and smiles to the Philippines, and our partner organization FACCGP. Every donation, big or small, counts in making a lasting impact on these communities!
